What they learn

What Starfishes learn

Practiced in a small group, with the coach close, until each skill feels steady.

  • Going under by choice

Your child decides to put their face in, then goes under calmly.

  • Breath control

Holding a breath and letting it out slowly, so going under feels easy.

  • Back floating

Floating on the back with more independence each week, the resting position every later level builds on.

About Super Frogs
Good to know

Before the first class

  • Children still in diapers need an approved swim diaper.
  • A child still getting used to going under can start in Tadpoles.
  • Swim lessons add an important layer of protection. Active adult supervision stays essential around every body of water.

Fun fact

Hundreds of tiny feet

Sea stars cross the ocean floor on hundreds of tiny tube feet. Our Starfishes use two, and some days they seem just as busy.

Common questions

What people ask before they book

Can my child take a swim class without me?

Yes. Starfishes is built for that step: preschool swim lessons in Hallandale Beach with up to 3 children per coach, for children comfortable joining a class on their own. You watch from the side, or from the parent lounge with its full view of the pool, while your child works on going under, breath control and back floating.

How many children are in the class?

Up to 3 swimmers per teacher, the smallest group we run. Every child gets individual attention, and the coach stays close through each skill until it feels steady. The group meets at the same time each week for 30 minutes, and a dedicated lifeguard is on deck in addition to the instructor.

Does my child need to be potty-trained?

Children still in diapers are welcome in an approved swim diaper. Bring it along with a swimsuit, a towel, and goggles if your child likes them. The pool equipment is ours, and the private family changing rooms have space and hair dryers for getting ready before and after class.

What does my child learn first?

Going under by choice, breath control and floating on the back. Your child decides when to put their face in, learns to hold a breath and let it out slowly, and floats on the back with more independence each week. Every later level builds on those three skills, starting with Super Frogs.

What comes after Starfishes?

Super Frogs, where children learn to get air while swimming and to travel toward the wall. Swimmers move up when they take part comfortably on their own, put their face in the water by choice, control their breath and float on the back to the coach’s standard. A child still getting used to going under can spend time in Tadpoles first.
