Fun fact

The biggest heart in the ocean

The blue whale is the largest animal known to have lived on Earth, and its heart pumps about 60 gallons of blood with each beat. Our Blue Whales fit in the lesson pool a little more easily.

Common questions

What people ask before they book

Can a 2-year-old take swim lessons?

Yes. Blue Whales is a toddler swim class in Hallandale Beach built for children this age, with a parent in the water while they learn to turn to the wall, float on the back and climb out of the pool. Classes run 30 minutes with up to 6 parent-child pairs per coach, at $132 a month.

When can my toddler swim without me in the water?

After Blue Whales. Children move up to Starfishes, a small group class with a coach, once the coach sees the comfort, maturity and independence to take part safely on their own. Starfishes runs the smallest groups on the ladder, and you watch from the side while your child works on going under, breath control and back floating.

Do I stay in the water?

Yes, for every class. Blue Whales is still a parent-and-me level, so one adult joins each child in the water. The coach shows you how to support a toddler who is doing more on their own: turning to the wall, moving along it hand over hand, and floating on the back with less support each week.

How warm is the pool?

The indoor pool is held at 90°F every day of the year, warm enough for a toddler to stay relaxed through a whole 30-minute lesson. Our Hallandale Beach pool is standalone and UV-purified, which keeps the water clear and easy on eyes, and big glass walls let in plenty of natural light.

What does my toddler wear?

A swimsuit, plus an approved swim diaper for children still in diapers. Bring a swimsuit for yourself, since you are in the water too, and a towel for each of you. Goggles are optional, and we sell them at cost if you want a pair. Kickboards, noodles and the rest of the pool equipment are ours.
Next step

Getting ready for their own class

Bring a swimsuit, a swim diaper if needed, and a towel. The first class shows how close your toddler is to swimming on their own.
