What they learn

What your toddler learns

Your toddler practices each skill with you or the coach within reach.

  • Going underwater

Comfortable trips under the surface, with a parent or the coach holding on.

  • Holding a breath

A brief breath hold during calm, planned submersions, so going under always comes with a cue.

  • Swimming to you

A short underwater swim from the coach’s hands to yours.

  • Reaching the wall

Moving toward the wall, reaching it and holding on: the first water-safety habit.

  • Rolling onto the back

Flipping over to float and breathe, with a hand underneath for support.

  • Getting in and out

Safe entries, turns and exits, with you there to help.

Common questions

What people ask before they book

Can a 1-year-old take swim lessons?

Yes, with a parent in the water. Tiger Sharks is our parent and toddler swim class in Hallandale Beach, and it teaches the first steps: going underwater with support, a short underwater swim from the coach’s hands to yours, rolling onto the back to float and reaching the wall. Classes run 30 minutes, with up to 6 parent-child pairs per coach.

Will my toddler go underwater?

Yes, in calm, planned submersions with a parent or the coach holding on, as your child grows comfortable. Each one comes with a cue, so your toddler learns a brief breath hold before going under. The first underwater swims are short, from the coach’s hands to yours, and the same routine each week helps a toddler settle.

Do I get in the water too?

Yes. One adult joins each child for the whole class, and the coach shows you safe holds and simple ways to practice at your toddler’s pace. Your toddler swims to you, and you stay close for back floats and trips to the wall. Up to 6 parent-child pairs share one coach, and one monthly price of $132 covers you and your toddler.

How warm is the pool?

Our indoor pool in Hallandale Beach is held at 90°F every day of the year, warm enough for a toddler to stay relaxed through a whole 30-minute lesson. Small bodies lose heat far faster than adults, which is why learn-to-swim programs hold babies and toddlers in water this warm. The water is UV-purified and gentle on eyes.

What comes after Tiger Sharks?

Blue Whales, the last parent-and-me level. Toddlers move up when the coach sees comfort in the water, steady participation and readiness for more independent water-safety skills. In Blue Whales they go under by choice, turn to the wall on their own, float on the back with less support and climb out of the pool, with a parent still in the water.
